Nutritional Value of Pure Maple Syrup

At Wood’s Maple Orchard making fine maple syrup is a family tradition. From state awards in the 50’s to national and international awards in the 2000’s . We are into the 5th generation of Wood’s making pure maple syrup that is as good as the best and better than the rest. Our maple syrup is available in all grades and a variety of products.

Sugars

Sugars are an important source of energy. The main sugar in pure maple syrup is sucrose, which is the sole sugar in the Grade A Light Amber grade syrups. The darker grades of syrup contain a small and variable amount of fructose and glucose. In order of sweetness, sucrose is less sweet than fructose, but sweeter than glucose. Each grade is of the same quality, but has different color and flavor. Maple syrup caloric value is 52 calories per tablespoon, molasses 40, corn syrup 60 and honey is 45.

Minerals

Minerals have specific and nonspecific nutritional functions in the body metabolism. In pure filtered maple syrup the main minerals present are: potassium, calcium, magnesium, sodium, zinc, manganese, phosphorus, iron and selenium.

Something new and exciting in 2007, is our berry flavored pure maple syrup. The only thing that comes close to our love for quality maple syrup is fresh fruit. Our first test was mixing maple syrup with fresh cherry juice. It was a big hit with all who were lucky enough to have a sample. Next the raspberry test and again a huge success, followed by blueberry and strawberry which also received rave reviews. Fine maple syrup has the characteristic of enhancing the taste of your breakfast entrees. This characteristic also works extremely well with the fruit flavored syrups. A very common response from people who have tried the fruit flavored syrups is, “I have never tasted anything so wonderful.” So we have expanded on our maple syrup by adding 100% natural fruit to create a unique taste treat. The combination of maple syrup with blueberry, cherry, raspberry or strawberry is truly a new taste sensation.

There are no additives or preservatives so refrigeration is essential. Our syrup is available in many different styles and sizes of containers. Please contact us via email or call for current prices and sizes.
